Linen Vs. Cotton

Linen

  • One of the most biodegradable & stylish fabrics in fashion history
  • Ultra luxurious & one of the healthiest fabrics you can wear
  • Anti-allergenic & perfect for people with sensitive skin (also suitable for children)
  • Bacterial resistant & can absorb 20% of its weight in moisture leaving your skin dry, fresh & cool
  • Linen is the strongest natural fabric, is 30% stronger than cotton, resistant to damage & lasts years longer
  • Linen has a much lower environmental impact than Cotton
  • Made from the natural fibre flax seed which is 100% recyclable & biodegradable
  • Flax grows naturally and requires no pesticides or additional water other than rainwater making it the MOST eco-friendly fabric
  • Flax seed doesn’t require nearly as much energy or water resources to produce the entire plant = No waste footprint
  • The whole flax plant has a purpose so there’s no waste which respects & preserves the land
  • Linen can get recycled into paper & insulation materials for the car industry rather than winding up in landfills like cotton

Cotton

  • Responsible for the emission of 220 million tons of CO2 annually
  • Child labour & slavery is known to be very common in this industry
  • Most cotton grown is not organic which contributes to environmental pollution through the use of pesticides & insecticides
  • Non organic cotton exposes the growers & consumers to toxic carcinogenic chemicals that are used during production
  • Cotton can be classified as toxic due to high levels of harmful pesticides & toxic chemicals being used during the farming process which makes it one of the agriculture’s most polluting crops
  • Growing cotton causes soil erosion as well as loss of forest area & other habitats
  • Cotton grown using genetically modified seeds and sprayed heavily with Roundup (primary ingredient in Roundup is Glyphosate which is linked to CANCER) & other toxic pesticides that linger on fabric after manufacturing face masks.
  • Cotton face mask against your face for too long isn’t good they are horrible for your natural oils & absorb all the moisture in your skin leaving you with dried out itchy skin & horrible chapped lips
